Edward Staunton

Has over 16 years experience as a singer from rock to jazz. He strives to bring the best out in a student's voice without compromising their individuality as a singer. Holds a degree in Vocal Performance, Music Production and Arranging.

Ed's warm, easy-going nature, and ability to explain singing technique in a simple yet dynamic way, helps him to get the best out of his pupils, whether they be an enthusiastic beginner or a seasoned professional. He believes that a good singing teacher guides a student's vocal development, while allowing their individuality to shine.

A singer and experienced musician for over 16 years, Ed holds a degree in Vocal Performance, Music Production and Arranging from the London Centre of Contemporary Music (LCCM). In addition he has studied Speech Level Singing since 2003 and is certified Level Two, and continues to further his education by taking regular lessons with other top SLS instructors.

Ed says his greatest reward as a teacher is the smiling face when a student has a vocal breakthrough. While a solid technique is essential for good vocal health, he is adament that singing lessons should be creative and, above all, enjoyable!

"SLS makes it much easier to identify and correct vocal problems and so vocal improvements come more quickly. This is great news both as a pupil and as a teacher!"

Whilst Ed is a singing teacher (and singer) first and foremost, Ed also holds a degree in Psychology & Physiology (BSc), which strengthens his own understanding of the voice and his communication to his pupils.  Ed is also an experienced guitarist, keyboardist, programmer, arranger, composer and producer, and still finds the time to work on his own musical projects outside of teaching!

His favourite artists are: David Bowie, Depeche Mode, Adam & The Ants, Japan, Florence & The Machine, Bat For Lashes, Late of The Pier, Faith No More, Mansun, Guns 'N' Roses, The Beatles, The Smiths, The Cure, Michael Jackson, Associates, and 16 Horsepower.

Ed wants to be David Bowie when he grows up.
