Emmy Urquhart

Experienced performer (Bmus Hons) and teacher. Encourages student’s individual style and their all-round musical development in addition to SLS technique. Individuals and groups (incl those who want to work on harmonies/vocal arrangements) welcome.

ABOUT: Emmy is an experienced performer and vocal teacher. She has a BMus (Jazz) from Trinity College of Music and performs in duos, trios, quartets and quintets throughout the UK. In addition to jazz she also has a love of soul, alternative pop, rnb and electronica and is currently working on a project of original compositions.

SLS: Emmy has taken a great interest in vocal technique and was drawn to SLS after hearing the results it had produced in a friend. She was amazed how significantly a voice could change and how balanced and powerful it could become in a relatively short period of SLS training. Since then, she has studied with some of the highest-level SLS instructors in the UK and USA.

LESSONS: When teaching, Emmy greatly values each student’s individual style. In addition to technique, her lessons focus on the musical and interpretative skills required to deliver a song and in a unique and convincing way. Students are encouraged to explore a wide range of repertoire and currently her students’ song choices range from jazz/blues to rnb/soul/gospel to pop/rock/folk to musical theatre. She encourages students to perform whenever they can and takes a keen interest in their all-round musical progress.

STUDENTS: All individual students are welcome (including vocalists who are interested in improving their musicianship, those who are interested in improvisation/ad libs and those who write their own material).

Groups such vocal ensembles with a desire to work on harmonies and /or vocal arrangements are also very welcome.
